Card Processing Pros understands your concerns about credit card fraud. Besides advising you on steps you can take to prevent fraud, we offer card-processing terminals and other equipment that include fraud-protection tools. All swipe terminals and gateway/virtual terminals we provide contain address (AVS) and card code verification (CVV2, CVC2, CID) systems.

Address Verification System (AVS)

The Address Verification System (AVS) tool verifies that the billing address entered online, or provided in person or by phone, matches the address on file with the card issuer for the card being processed. AVS compares the street address and zip code to see if they match, then accepts or rejects transactions accordingly.

Card Code Verification System (CVV2, CVC2 or CID)

The Card Verification Value 2 (CVV2), Card Validation Code 2 (CVC2), and Card Identification (CID) numbers refer to the 3-digit numbers on the back of Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards, and to the 4-digit number on the front of American Express cards. Like AVS, the card code verification tool accepts or rejects transactions based on the code provided by the cardholder. Visa & Mastercard Credit Card Processors have their own rules and regulations on how they handle AVS declines and CVV2 number declines.
